Cue a million different decisions to make, a thousand fires to put out, and that’s not even mentioning arch-enemy #1 – YOU.

It’s true. When it comes to taking steps out of our very comfortable comfort zone, we are our own worst enemy. And I’m learning first hand how quickly I’m ready to sabotage myself at every corner.

Here are 3 words to keep an eye on when you’re making changes, and how you can stop them from running the show.

Overwhelm

When we moved into our current apartment and box after box came pouring in, my mind immediately shifted to overwhelm mode.

If you’ve never moved into a smaller home, you might not quite realize that panicked sensation of standing in a room of boxes you can’t unpack because every inch of space is filled with boxes.

The last straw was when the movers pushed my husband’s clunky bike through the door. “Too much!” I wailed, and he promptly discarded it on the side of the road … in true New York fashion ;)

When tackling something new, I find that overwhelm often settles in first. As the boxes and question marks begin to pop up, paralyzation sneaks in, steals your focus and can keep you stuck if you’re not careful.
